The problem of unpredictable treatment response

Once an individual is diagnosed as having a mental health disorder, the challenge of prescribing the right medication to the right patient exists. The current one-size-fits all treatment model is unsound. Not all patients respond to a given treatment and, to date, it has not been possible to predict who will benefit from a treatment and who will suffer side effects. Various drugs are prescribed on an ad hoc basis in order to identify the right drug and dose for a particular patient. This may take months or years, during which patients face many personal and professional life challenges, often with long term negative consequences.

TheraGenetics Solution

The concept of "personalised medicine" is an ideal solution.

TheraGenetics uses the science of pharmacogenetics to deliver that solution. By studying large patient groups from around the world treated with different medications, TheraGenetics identifies multiple variants in genes that effect treatment response and the occurrence of side effects.

We use this information to design pharmacogenetic diagnostic tests to identify which patient is most likely to respond to which drug and experience the minimum of side effects; matching the medication to the person.
